I wasn’t planning to write anything else about my time at C&C. That chapter’s closed and locked now, even if I’m still reeling from what happened a little bit; a spinning top wobbling slightly on its axis. A month ago, I decided to do an Instagram AMA on a whim, and at least half the questions I got were about C&C, even all these months later. Today would have been my seven year anniversary.

I’m not going to answer everything people asked me; that would be insane. There were simply too many questions (over 50 in total), and more than a few I’m not comfortable talking about publicly. I was surprised by how much you still wanted to know, though. But I guess I’d be curious too.

A few people asked if enough time had gone by that I would finally tell non-subscribers more about what happened without a paywall, and my answer was and still is no, but I do want to explain why. I was let go from my job very suddenly and I didn’t have a backup plan – except for Substack, thank god! – because I didn’t realize I needed one. I did not receive any severance pay, and my unemployment benefits run out roughly at the end of summer. Substack suddenly became my full-time job – it’s by far my largest source of income at the moment, and probably will be for a long time. I can’t find another job, and I finally decided to stop looking and go all-in on writing, which is something I explained last Friday. (It’s a really good thing, though! In the words of Taylor Swift when Travis Kelce scores a touchdown: Let’s fucking go!!!!!)

Unforch that means this kind of thing has to go behind a paywall because this is what people are most willing to pay for right now, which I learned the last time I wrote about losing my job. If you’re interested in upgrading to a paid subscription, I’m still offering 40% off an annual subscription ($36 for an entire year!) that maybe I can entice you with? Substack is my full-time job now, and I’d love for you to stick around after you read this. ❤️

There are 26 questions and my answers below. Are you ready for it?
