I say this with love and this sounds like a bad experience, but this is not what I'm here for. Long essays devoid of anything other than complaining honestly really misses the mark for me. I hope you'll think about what your readership reads for, and speaking for myself only, it really isn't this kind of thing.

This triggers me to the freeze here in TX in Feb 2021 🫠 luckily we had a generator to keep the heater on. My brother did not fare so well and had to melt snow to flush the toilet 🥶 love your house though!! It looks so cozy and treehouse-y.

Sorry you had to experience a 30 hour power outage - it isn't much fun at all. After enduring several outages over the years (some actually weeks-long - remember The Ice Storm), we bought a generator several years ago. It's great for keeping our devices charged, our fridge/freezer running and a few lights on at night. We are actually in the process of installing a Generac generator which will seamlessly run the entire household during a power outage. I realize that it's coming from a place of extreme privilege to do such a thing, but last summer we had a three-day outage during a very hot week, and my asthma became scary-bad with the heat and humidity. Just a thought since you are also in a snow-belt region.
