Maybe you can publish as solo posts for opt out until there’s enough following to move to a second newsletter? Would love to hear what you said! I still listen to the “Kelly’s version” ttpd song list 😄

SATC is a love letter to female friendships. The patriarchy likes to pit (straight) women against each other and make us think we're fighting over limited resources (men). Candace saw through all that and presented the idea that even when we're looking for romantic love, our female friendships can remain the most important and rewarding relationships in our lives. I love when Charlotte said, "Maybe we can be each other's soulmates. And then we can let men be just these great, nice guys to have fun with." LOVE THAT. Love my ladies! Great post and happy birthday, Kelly!!

You're not overreacting about the Oprah/Strabucks thing. I have the full set of DVDs of SATC at home and really don't feel any urge in rewatching them, ever again. I wonder what I should do with them as they are still a fond memory of my formative years.

Happy birthday! I remember checking out dvds of SATC from my college dorm’s community center space and watching them uncensored for the first time. I’ve developed some mixed feelings on the series/characters in more recent years, but it is always a comfort show to go back to.

(Also IMO you are reacting perfectly normally to the Oprah/Starbucks thing - it feels like the epitome of art filtered through peak capitalism…ick)

On the Oprah/Starbucks thing.....without taking any details and realities into account the idea of a large coffee store chain partnering with a celebrity book club to make a podcast sounds great and makes sense. BUT...and I can't quite articulate all the details of why...it just feels tone deaf?

Anyway lol – Happy birthday!!!!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend celebrating!
